Linda Boronkay oversees all interior design for Soho House's members clubs. She reveals her career path into hospitality design for the Dezeen Jobs careers guide.

After founding her own interior design firm straight out of university, Boronkay went on to work for a spectrum of studios including Tom Dixon, Martin Brudnizki and Woods Bagot. It was this extensive experience that led her to Soho House.

Heading up the design department, Boronkay works alongside a team of designers, architects and project managers to develop different interior concepts for Soho House's various locations, which include London, Paris, New York, Hong Kong and Istanbul.

"Everything you see, feel and touch when you are in our spaces ultimately I'm responsible for," she explained.

"I just love the variety of projects we get to do at all times – it's a constant creative challenge."

Behind the scenes, Boronkay also works with Soho Home, the company's retail arm, to develop new furniture and lighting designs. She balances this responsibility with the management of a growing number of interiors projects, as Soho House expands further into Europe and Asia.

The designer said the ability to listen to others and trust her own instincts have proved essential skills throughout her design career.

"Staying focused and level-headed at all times is necessary," she revealed. "Emotional intelligence is just as important as academic intelligence."
