Dezeen Watch Store: Hong Kong brand Kitmen Keung is releasing a new version of its first watch, which is designed to act as a reminder of the distance between the wearer and a loved one.
The Long Distance brown series features a new soft brown calf-leather strap, complimented by a brushed gold or silver-coloured steel case.
Launching at Dezeen Watch Store this week, this latest version has the same double-dial face as the existing styles of the Long Distance.
One dial is printed in black on the face's white background, with black hands and markers, and acts as the primary time keeper to track hours and minutes in the wearer's current time zone.
The second dial is in pale grey with matching hands. This is designed to track the time in another country where a long-distance lover or close family member is living or working.
Designer Kitmeun Keung, who launched his eponymous brand's first watch in 2013, said the secondary dial was meant to "appear like a shadow on the interface".
Keung's inspiration for the Long Distance came from his Long-d wall clock, which also displays two time zones on the same face.
The Long Distance brown series is the latest new launch from Dezeen Watch Store, which offers a curated selection of watches by contemporary design brands.
Last month, Dezeen debuted its first two watch collaborations at the store. Our own version of the popular Bradley, a timepiece originally designed for the visually impaired that has become one of Dezeen Watch Store's best-sellers, features a matching black face and strap.
The limited-edition Instrmnt 01-DZN, an individual take on Instrmnt's popular minimalist 01 series influenced by mid-20th century industrial design, has a navy blue leather strap and a gold case engraved with the Dezeen logo.
